The crisis of maternal overdose, substance use and substance use disorders knows no border. MOMS+ is a program that was launched and is being implemented in Colorado, however this work must not be confined to one state. The need to expand a system of care to additional states, health systems and indeed nationally is an urgent matter. The maternal mortality rate in the United States represents a public health emergency. Substance use disorders can be treated with compassion, evidence based care, good regulation and public policy. MOMS+ is eager to be part of the solution.
